Anhui is one of the most important agricultural production bases of China . The main cereal crops include rice, wheat, beans, maize, sorghum, and sweet potato etc. while industrial crops are cotton, rape seed, flue-cured tobacco, tea, silk cocoon, yellow bluish dogbane, etc. The agriculture economy of Anhui ranks the 9 th throughout China .

    In 2004, the output of food grain of Anhui province is 27,430,000 tons, while 2,996,000 tons of oils, 392,000 tons of cotton, 16,565,000 tons of vegetables, 7,196,000 tons of fruits, 3,662,000 tons of meat, 1,190,000 tons of poultry and eggs, and 1,712,000 tons of aquatic products were produced in Anhui province.

    In 2004, the export value of agricultural products of Anhui province was 263,180,000 U.S. dollars, accounting for 6. 68% of the total exports of the whole province, which is 1.33% of the total agricultural gross output value in the whole province and 1.14% of China 's agricultural exports, ranking the 19th in the whole country.

    In recent years, Anhui Province has exported more than 500 kinds of agricultural products. The advantaged agricultural export product mainly include: grains, vegetables, tea, honey, sesame, eiderdown, peanut, poultry, silk, fruit and traditional Chinese medicinal materials. Anhui has 240 export enterprises of agricultural products, among which 58 enterprises whose export exceeds over 1 million dollars. These enterprises include 28.6% of manufacturing export enterprises, 11.9% of foreign-invested enterprises, and 59.5% of the trade enterprise. At present, the agricultural products of Anhui province have been exported to 107 countries and regions in the world and become the main export base is Asia , which account for over half of the total export of agricultural products in the whole province. Japan , European Union , U.S.A. , South Korea and ASEAN countries are the main target export countries and regions of Anhui 's agricultural products.
